Book Review :: Read With Me Bible for Little Ones by Doris Wynbeek Rikkers, illustrated by Dennis G. Jones

The Read With Me Bible for Little Ones is a new board book (with padded hardcover) from Zondervan/Zonderkidz. The illustrations throughout the Read With Me Bible for Little Ones board book are done in Dennis G. Jones' very specific cartoon style, as seen in the cover image.
The Read With Me Bible for Little Ones includes very simplified versions of 8 popular Bible stories, 4 from the Old Testament and 4 from the New Testament. They are:
- The Very Beginning (Genesis 1-2:3)
- Noah Builds an Ark (Genesis 6-9)
- David Fights Goliath (1 Samuel 17)
- Jonah and the Big Fish (Jonah 1-3)
- Jesus is Born (Luke 2; Matthew 2)
- A Day in the Life of Jesus (Matthew - Mark, Luke - John)
- Jesus Calms the Storm (Matthew 8)
- Jesus Goes to Heaven (Acts 1)

Each of the 8 stories span 4 of the board book pages (2 page openings each). There are just a couple sentences on each page, with the majority of each page filled with illustrations.

There are a lot of Bible board books out there for little ones and one thing that sets the Read With Me Bible for Little Ones apart from others is the "A Day in the Life of Jesus" story. Although I do think that particular story could have been written better (it is very choppy), I love the idea of "following" Jesus like this.

All in all, the Read With Me Bible for Little Ones is a colorful, fun, easy-to-read board book story Bible for little ones, and is worth checking out.
